Ticker Time · last updated 13 October 2026 (crash reports; unused guest accounts deleted after 30 days)
Ticker Time is a free stock-picking game. This page explains what we store about you, why, and how to remove it. The short version: we keep only what the game needs, we show no ads, we use no third-party trackers or analytics services (we count visits and game activity anonymously ourselves), and we never sell or share your data.
Who is responsible
Ticker Time is run by its creators, BigLuongDeck and TomThatTrades, who decide how your data is used (the "controller" under data protection law). Contact: getterbetter2027@gmail.com.
Your age
The first time the game opens it asks for the month and year you were born. Your browser keeps only the result (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over) and whether you said yes to play stats; the date itself is never stored or sent anywhere. Players under 13 can play the solo modes but can't make an account or play multiplayer, and never get a play stats ID.
Playing without an account
You can play without signing in. Your campaign progress, settings, fish tank and the local Hall of Fame are then saved only in your own browser (local storage) and never leave your device.
Run mode and the daily challenge are played on our server. When you start one without being signed in, the game makes a guest account for you: an account ID with no name, email or password (it gets a name like GUEST_1234). It keeps your run together and lets the server stop abuse. You can upgrade it to a full account or delete it in Account.
Visit counts
To know how many people play, the game counts visits anonymously. Each open game tab gets a random ID (not linked to you or your account) and tells our server every 90 seconds that it is still open, which gives a "playing right now" count. These check-ins are deleted after about a day; only the running totals are kept. No cookies, names, emails or other details are involved. Only if you said yes to play stats does your browser also keep small "already counted" notes, so a returning visitor isn't counted as new.
Play stats (only if you say yes)
To learn whether the game is fun enough to come back to, we count what happens in it: games started and finished in each mode, daily challenges, results shared, fish tank visits, storms and capsules opened. Without your yes, these are sent with no ID and nothing is stored in your browser for them; they only add to the day's totals.
If you are 16 or over and tick "share anonymous play stats" (on the first screen, or later in Settings), your browser keeps one random ID so we can tell whether a browser comes back the next day or a week later. The ID is not linked to you, your account or your name. We keep only that ID with the first and last day it was seen; it is deleted after 90 days without a visit. You can switch it off in Settings at any time.
Daily challenge, Run mode and Campaign
The daily challenge and Run mode are played on our server one round at a time, under your account (a guest account if you didn't sign in). Signed-in Google and email players also play Campaign levels on the server. The server keeps your picks for the game in progress: daily runs are deleted after a few days, runs 30 days after they start, and Campaign games 7 days after they start. Google/email players' results appear on the boards with their player name (daily boards for 30 days; the best run and the best final-level Campaign result until the account is deleted).
Bot protection
To keep scripts and bots away from the game server, the game uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise through Firebase App Check. It runs in the background (no puzzles) and sends Google information about your browser and how the page is used, so Google can tell a real browser from a bot. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it.
What we store when you sign in
- Sign-in details (Firebase Authentication): your email address, the sign-in method you used (Google, email and password, or guest), and an account ID. With Google sign-in we receive your name and email from Google; we don't receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account. Email passwords are stored by Firebase in hashed form; we can't see them.
- Player name: the name you choose (or one made from your Google name). It is shown to other players on the boards and in multiplayer rooms.
- Game data: your campaign progress, your shells and what you bought with them (fish, decorations, banner styles), how your fish tank is arranged, your best server-checked scores, your Hall of Fame points, your win streak, your wins and losses in a row (the fish tank's weather, and any fish the storm took), your weekly league (group, XP and result), the shells and XP your games earned today, and the multiplayer matches you play (picks and results, shown to the other players in that room).
- Technical data: like any website, the servers handling a request see your IP address and browser type. Firebase may keep these briefly in security logs. A small counter of your recent requests is kept to stop abuse.
- Crash reports: if the game hits an error on our website, it sends the error message, where in the code it happened and the page it was on (without anything after the "?"), so we can fix it. No account, name or email is sent. Reports stay in our server logs for about 30 days.
Guest accounts store no email; a guest account's data is tied to that one browser.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
Only to run the game: keep your progress across devices, check scores so the boards are fair, run multiplayer matches and weekly leagues, show the Hall of Fame, and protect the service from cheating and abuse.
- To provide the game you asked for (your account, progress, wallet, boards, leagues, multiplayer): this is needed to perform our agreement with you (the Terms of Use).
- Security, fair play and anonymous counts (limits on requests, bot protection, visit and game totals without an ID): our legitimate interest in keeping the game working, fair and affordable.
- The play stats ID: your consent, which you can take back in Settings at any time.
Who processes it
The game runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting), operated by Google LLC, which processes the data on our behalf under its data processing terms. Data is stored on Google's servers in the United States. For players in the EU, UK and Switzerland, Google protects these transfers with the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and its certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. See Firebase's privacy information. We share your data with nobody else, and we never sell it.
What other players see
Your player name, scores, points, match results, and your XP in your weekly league group (other signed-in players can see their group's table). Never your email.
How long we keep it
- Account, progress, scores and points: until you delete your account.
- Multiplayer rooms (picks and results): deleted automatically about one day after the room was created.
- Visit check-ins (random tab IDs): deleted automatically after about one day. The total visit counts are kept.
- Game activity IDs (random browser IDs): deleted automatically after 90 days without a visit. The daily totals are kept.
- Daily challenge boards (your name and result for that day): deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Runs (picks and perk cards): deleted automatically 30 days after they start. Your best run stays on the Run board until you delete your account.
- Campaign games played on the server (picks): deleted automatically 7 days after they start.
- Guest accounts: deleted automatically after 30 days without use, or sooner if you delete them (Account → Delete).
- Your age answer and play stats choice: in your browser only, until you clear its data.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time: Account → Delete my account in the game. It removes your sign-in, name, online progress, board entries and points straight away.
- Change your name: Account → Change name.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it, using the contact below. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California), you have further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.
Children
Players under 13 can't make an account or play multiplayer, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If they play Run mode or the daily challenge, the game uses a guest account with no name, email or other details, only to run the game. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
